Started in 2011 by Dan Dennedy, Shotcut is developed on the MLT Multimedia Framework, 6 in development since 2004 by the same author. Shortcut removes video and timer sections on both sides of the marker, leaving you with a clear visual view of your clip size and content. Shotcut is a free and open-source, cross-platform video, audio, and image editing program for FreeBSD, Linux, macOS and Windows. Basic editing with shortcuts is similar to many similar tools: mark the beginning and end of the section you want to cut, copy, or edit. Shortcut played our video with the counter and timer markers up to a tenth of a second. You can drag files to Shortcut, but we click the Open File and navigate to a saved FLV file from YouTube. We mentioned the good touches of Shortcut, and the Quick Start Guide describes another, the ability to control video playback speed, direction, input, and other features by tapping different keys. Shortcut's View menu allows us to control the features and views that appear on the screen.įor example, closing filters, properties, and encoder panels leaves a much larger video window and a more formal layout. The program's Quick Start Guide opened in the preview window.
